Launched in November 2013 as the 20th-anniversary model, GEL-KAYANO 20 introduced a package ASICS highlighted around FluidRide, FluidFit, Guidance Trusstic System and Heel Clutching System. Some archives label it a 2014 model year.

The 2023 GEL-KAYANO 30 marked a major redesign around the series’ 30th anniversary. ASICS studied how posture and foot strike change with fatigue and introduced the 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM approach to adaptive stability.
The 2024 GEL-KAYANO 31 carried forward the adaptive-stability approach of the 30, with ASICS focusing its update on the upper, supportive fit and comfort.
The 2025 GEL-KAYANO 32 continued 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM stability while refining the midsole, upper and tongue-wing construction for a smoother, more adaptive fit and ride.
The 2026 GEL-KAYANO 33 introduces ASICS’ FLUIDSUPPORT stability technology and a dual-layer cushioning setup, opening a new chapter after the 4D GUIDANCE SYSTEM-led 30–32 generation.
